MADRID - From Wednesday 20 April, wearing a face mask in indoor areas is no longer mandatory in Spain. This means that after about 700 days, the mask obligation in Spain will come to an end. But there are places and situations that the mouth cap still remains mandatory as we mention below. Since February 10, wearing face masks in the open air is no longer mandatory.
On Tuesday 19 April, the Council of Ministers adopted the decree stating the end of the mask obligation. In general, the obligation to wear a face mask in indoor areas will end from Wednesday 20 April, but there are some exceptions.
The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, asks the population to take responsibility for whether or not to wear the mask. She also reports that if the situation gets completely out of hand again with regard to corona infections, etc., it can be decided again to make the mouth caps mandatory, although there are also other means that can be used, according to the minister.
